Summer Missions

How will you make a difference in children’s lives this summer?

Every child, parent, and counselor that comes to Summer Camp at PBA is ready for the moment that changes their lives.

Where will that moment be?

In the dining hall? On the rec field? At the Adventure Course?

Where will you be?

When we tell people we work at camp, they always have a “When I was at camp….” story. They can tell you which tree they were under when they prayed to accept Jesus into their heart, which cabin they were in when they were called to a lifetime of ministry, or how camp was the place where they learned about God’s love and care for them for the first time. People of all ages have a camp story they can’t wait to share because of the difference a week at summer camp made to them.

Joining our summer missions team will allow you to be a part of someone’s camp story and make a difference!

FAQ

Still have questions about the Summer Missions Team? Here are some of the most common questions and answers about being an SMT.

What is the age/grade requirements?

17 and up is the preferred age for applicants. We do allow 15 and 16-year-olds to apply but due to the nature of the work, prefer those who are 17 and older.

What does an SMT do?

SMT’s serve and clean up in the dining hall, work with churches during rec games, facilitate activities, lifeguard, and housekeeping. SMT’s are the first and last point of contact for most campers. We want our campers to have a great time and the SMT’s are what make it happen!

While no two days at camp are the same, an activity day schedule might look like this for an SMT:

7:00 AM- Breakfast & Devotion

7:30 AM- Ready to serve the group Breakfast

8:00 AM- 9:30 AM- Serve Breakfast and Clean up

9:30 AM-11:00 AM- Break time or Special Projects

11:00 AM- Staff Lunch

11:30 AM- Ready to Serve Group Lunch

12:00-1:30 PM- Serve Lunch and Clean Up

2:00-5:30 PM- Break Time, Activities, or Special Projects

5:30-6:45 PM- Serve Dinner and clean up

6:45 PM- Staff Dinner

7:30-9:30 PM- Off Time, Snack Shack, or evening activities

What's included?

SMT’s are provided onsite housing, meals, work shirts, certifications/training, and paid for the days they work.

I am taking online classes. Can I still apply?

Yes! We work with our SMT’s to ensure they have time to complete summer coursework. School is extremely important and we want you to be successful in your studies!

How many weeks is this for?

Our summer is 10-11 weeks long, depending on the orientation and group schedules. We start orientation the weekend of Memorial Day and usually end the first full week in August.
